The Bank has been established in 1955 as Komunalna Banka of city of Skopje and was specialized for approving housing loans and financing construction operations. In the year 1965 year the first branch of the bank was opened in Skopje. Since 01/01/1966 Komunalna Banka was transformed into a mixed type of bank and gets a new name, Komercijalno-Investiciona Banka Skopje. The three leading banks in the Republic of Macedonia, Stopanska Banka Skopje, Komercijalno-Investiciona Banka Skopje and Bitola, were integrated in the year 1971 in a bank operating under the name Stopanska Banka - Branch Skopje. This bank was the first bank that introduces current accounts for the citizens. In 1989 was passed the Law on Banks and other financial institutions, and in 1990 the Bank was transformed into the first joint stock company in the country and carries the current name Komercijalna Banka AD Skopje.
Komercijalna Banka AD Skopje today is a universal bank with a wide range of banking activities from deposits, loans approval of legal entities and citizens, services at domestic and international payment, and other activities in sale of foreign currency, securities value forfeiting and more.
From 1993, Reuter’s terminal was installed because of the need to be in step with the international financial affairs.
In 1995 Komercijalna Banka AD Skopje issued the first EuroCard - MasterCard International Credit Card in the Republic of Macedonia, and in 1996 made the first ATM.
In 1998 with a decision of the Board of the Bank KB – Broker is established as a first of its kind in Macedonia. Shares issued by the Bank from 2003 began to list on the official market of the Macedonian Stock Exchange.
According to the implementation of the reform of the pension system in Macedonia
, Komercijalna Banka AD Skopje with First Pokojninska druzba of Ljubljana
in June 2005 has founded KB First Pension Company. As at 30.04.2014, the total number of members and temporary designated members of the Mandatory Fund managed by KB Prvo penzisko drustvo-Skopje is 187.587*, while the number of members of the Voluntary Fund managed by the Company is 12.355*.
In 2009 the company for managing investments funds KB Publikum Invest AD Skopje
was established. The founders of the company are Komercijlana Banka AD Skopje, Ljubljana Publikum Holding LLC, Pom-INVEST DD Maribor and Forleks S.R.L.
