Social responsibility, for Komercijalna Banka AD Skopje, means individual and collective efforts for achieving long lasting sustainable prosperity and development of the society.


Corporate social responsibility includes a commitment for contribution to the economy, environmental and social sustainability of the community through permanent interaction of the involved parties, active participation in the communities that are under the influence of the company and information to the public on the policies and company’s results achieved in the economy and in environmental and social sphere. It is a contemporary concept which means taking care not only for the companies’ profit but for the social benefit from the activities, as well.


Identifying the progress of the society, as a whole, with its own progress, Komercijalna Banka is committed to the activities aimed towards supporting of the higher social objectives and well-being, as well as towards its active contribution for their realization. This attitude means an approach towards the operation that overcomes the traditional understanding of the care for the main business line and the legal obligations and is directed towards identification of the groups that are under the influence of and have influence on its decisions (concerned parties), finding spheres of mutual interest, anticipation of the changes and appropriate actions.


The corporate social responsibility of Komercijalna Banka is in accordance with the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, the directions of the National Agenda for Social Responsibility of the Enterprises in the Republic of Macedonia, as well as the positive domestic and international practice.



The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact


The UN Global Compact is a strategic initiative for the businesses committed for compliance of their business and strategies with the following universally recognized principles:



Principle 1:

Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and

Principle 2:

make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.


Principle 3:

Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;

Principle 4:

the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;

Principle 5:

the effective abolition of child labour; and

Principle 6:

the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.


Principle 7:

Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;

Principle 8:

undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and

Principle 9:

encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.


Principle 10:

Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.



The Bank is an active member of the Global Compact network and reports on the improvement regarding the implementation of the Ten Principles in its operation on regular basis.


As one of the first members of the Macedonian network of the Global Compact, Komercijalna Banka has active participation in the promotion of the Global Compact among Macedonian companies and acceptance of its principles. Through its participation in different initiatives and debates the Bank is making great efforts for improvement of the climate for corporate and individual social responsibility and improvement of the role of the companies in creating better future for the society. Komercijalna Banka is proud to its tradition of being responsible company having deep relations with its society and is always ready to share and inspire the others that are willing to join this cause.  



National Agenda on Corporate Social Responsibility of the Companies for the Republic of Macedonia


The Agenda was adopted by the Government of the Republic of Macedonia in October 2008. The objectives of the Agenda are the rising of the awareness for the corporate social responsibility of the companies, development of capacities and competences in order to support the promotion of the corporate social responsibility of the companies and providing favorable atmosphere therefor. Being such, the Agenda provides actual objectives, measures and priorities that are of significance for the social responsibility of the Bank.
